Clarence is husband to Brenda, father to 3 girls (he the minority in their sorority), author, marriage counselor, pastor, speaker, and life coach. He is the President/CEO of BLR: Building Lasting Relationships (BLR). For nearly 25 years, Clarence and Brenda have conducted marriage, discipleship, men's, women's, and single seminars throughout the United States and internationally. They are members of Dennis Rainey's FamilyLife Marriage Speaker Team. They've taught for The Billy Graham Schools of Evangelism-teaching Balancing Marriage/Family & Ministry. Clarence assists the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (Administration for Children & Families) with its National African American Healthy Marriage Initiative. He's certified in Marriage Education for Professional Training. As an Executive Life Coach, Clarence helps executives find balance in their personal and professional lives. He's been featured several times in Essence Magazine, Discipleship Journal, Black Enterprise and other magazines as well as radio. Biblical Diversity seminars, a vital aspect of BLR, provides businesses, churches, educational institutions and parachurch ministries desiring to reflect all of God's people within their organizations with Clarence's thirty-five plus years of professional cross-cultural experience. He's taught as an adjunct professor at numerous educational institutions. As a Diversity Consultant, he has assisted numerous clients through his diversity seminars and/or hiring people of color and women in decision-making positions including the War College of U.S. Air Force, Evangelical Free Church of America, Moody Bible Institute, Navigators, Association of Christian Schools International, Harvest Bible Chapel (James MacDonald), Wycliffe Bible Translators, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Crowell & Orchard Foundations, and Mississippi Valley State University (Historically Black College). Clarence is the President of Moody Bible Institute's Alumni Board of Directors. He is on the board of Ramah International, a ministry to post-abortive women and men. He's authored six books, including Winning the Race to Unity (Moody Publishing) used by colleges and seminaries as a textbook, inspiring Wheaton College's first ever Civil Rights Movement Conference! Keeping Your Wife Your Best Friend (Cool Springs Publishing). The Discipleship Challenge workbook and its Leader's Guide, his most recent work, will be published in May 2010.

Brenda works with Clarence, her husband running BLR: Building Lasting Relationships. She is the administrator for this ministry, also speaking with Clarence, when they conduct marriage seminars in the U.S. and internationally. They both speak nationally at Family Life's Weekend to Remember Marriage Conferences. Additionally, together they counsel pre-married and married couples. Brenda is the Director of Bridges of Hope, an outreach to post abortive women and men, a division of Life Network. Furthermore, she's the administrator for the Shuler family! :) Brenda graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She then continued her education at Southwestern Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, receiving a Masters of Arts in Religious Education in 1985. She received her Doctorate of Divinity from Denver Institute of Urban Studies and Adult College May 15, 2005. She is also one of the Bible teachers for a city-wide Women's Bible Study. Brenda and Clarence have been married for almost 25 years and have twin girls, who are twenty and their youngest daughter is 19. They lived in Tulsa, OK where Brenda served as a pastor's wife and worked for 8 years in the public library system as a Children's Librarian. She did collection development, assisted patrons with reference information and conducted children's story times among other duties. She became a stay at home mom when the family moved to Springfield, Illinois in 1994. In 1995, they moved to Colorado where her volunteer experiences partly include, leading various women's Bible studies, organizing women's retreats, helping at each of the schools her girls have attended, being a Girl Scout leader and a Children's leader in Bible Study Fellowship for seven years, along with a number of other responsibilities in church ministries such as pastors wife, nursery, meals, flowers, etc. As a Christian for more than 30 years, Brenda's desire is to love the Lord and seek His guidance for her life. She loves being a wife and mother and tries to encourage other women to find enjoyment in these life-changing and life-shaping roles in which God has placed them. Dr. Shuler currently resides in Colorado Springs with Clarence.
